Not compatible to Mac January 5, 2009

It is but it requires that you reformat. Oh and I was supposed to get a 320 GB external but when I look at the properties I get 299GB, not exactly pleasing to say the least.

This drive would not let my computer reboot when plugged in. When I plugged it in for the first time, with my Dell Windows XP PC turned on, it seemed to work. However, when I restarted the computer, the entire computer would not boot up. It got hung up before Windows even started. I could reboot with the drive unplugged and then plug it in, but that was very inconvenient.
Simpletech's customer support was useless. They told me my computer had a BIOS problem and would not give me any further assistance. I returned the drive and bought a Seagate Freeagent, and it worked fine. So much for the BIOS problem!
Doesn't work November 29, 2008

Just bought this item, and it doesn't work. I have an HP Pavillion dv5 laptop, and both USBs are plugged in.
I just wanted something quick, simple, and convenient. For the extra money that I'd have to spend in order for this to work, I'd rather upgrade to a different product.
Returning it tomorrow and buying something else.

One of the few external drives that doesn't require a power cord to plug in when using. In essence, you could consider this a 320GB jumpdrive ! Very handy for the people who needs to carry last amounts of data for archiving, backups, or just a huge media library ! I've used this drive to backup data quickly during episodes of hard disk drive crashes and it has been a life saver. Relatively easy to carry in a pocket, so its very, very portable. If you don't need 320GB, there is always the 160GB which is far cheaper and just as portable.

I love this product -- it's comapct -- attractive -- BUT -- unless I have it connected when I boot up my computer -- it doesn't show up and I can't move files to it. I have used the extra USB connection thinking it might be a low power problem but it doesn't help.
